Home of Rescue 131

In April 2004, the Brownsburg Fire Territory recognized the need for a specialized unit that could handle special operations incidents in addition to fire suppression and medical emergencies. Staffing consists of 4 firefighters with specialized training in high/low angle rescue, swift water rescue, surface/ice rescue, machinery and vehicle extrication.  Starting in late 2008, trench rescue and structural collapse will be added to our list of disciplines.

Our rescue company is tasked with the responsibility of rescuing those persons who are located in such a location as to require the use of specialized skills and equipment to reach and remove them to a safe location.

The District

Rescue Co 131 operates as a truck company on all fire box alarms.  The rescue company gives the Incident Commander a wide-range of job functions to assign the crew. From assisting in venting operations, to search and rescue, to rapid intervention.  Our rescue company is also dispatched throughout Hendricks County on special operations runs as a part of the countywide tactical rescue response.

The House

Rescue 131's firehouse was built in 1996 as a public safety building. In 2006, the Brownsburg Police Dept moved into their own building. Station 131 was then renovated in 2008 to accommodate 20 firefighters per shift. Firefighters work a 24/48 schedule consisting of an A-B-C shift rotation.
